My New Shiny

I don't often 'do' Fantasy, although it is a genre I enjoy I don't feel its a genre I'm particularly good at portraying, however I always like a challenge and to try new things, so when Fantasy Faire rolled around this time and announced their blogger challenges, i knew that i wanted to do at least one of them if I could. So here, is 'My New Shiny'. The challenge was simply to find something you like for a store previously unknown to yourself and blog it. For this challenge, I chose to buy the gorgeous and beautifully crafted Sumiana crown by a i s l i n g. a i s l i n g is a store that I have never come across in my SL travels before, however when it came to finding something dramatic and in theme with my overall look for this blog post, the Sumiana crown was perfect. I was almost tempted to cover myself in bruises and blood, but decided to opt for a 'clean' look this time!

Worn with this gorgeous crown is the equally stunning Maestitia gown by sakide, which is one of their RFL donation items at the event, make-up from pin me down and the necklace from LNS.

A twist of fate...

In the ongoing Adventures of Flat Rodvik, I decided to make it up to him for frightening him earlier, so I wiped off all my make-up and took him on a date to this luscious tropical paradise. I thought maybe he would relax and start to enjoy himself, but he still looked stiff and impassive. Never had I been on such an awkward date. I'd tried everything, even bought a new dress for the occasion and had my hair done all nice. Maybe Roddy had other things on his mind?

Later that day, as the sun set and the moon rose, Roddy was still stood there by the sea, impassive and forlorn. But where was his hot date??

Face-down in a pool, that's where!! With just one silent witness, the flamingo by his side, Rodvik would have the last laugh - no-one would ever know what had happened to her.

The amazing animated pool is from Horribaubles and is available up on the trailer park for the duration of this event. As soon as  saw it I KNEW I had to fit it into a post somewhere, hehe. As for Flat Rodvik Linden, who knows if he will ever be seen again?

Busting out of my bubble with Billy...

So this is a cute blogger challenge originated by Skylar Coeur at her blog here, she basically suggested that we, as veteran bloggers, should get together with another, new, blogger and blog!Or, the newer bloggers' could approach a veteran blogger they'd like to work with themselves. I was honoured, and quite flattered, to be approached by Billy from Songs in the Key of SL, who asked that we work together for this challenge. And also quite surprised at being considered a 'veteran' blogger, I guess after nearly 3yrs of blogging, that I am indeed a veteran blogger, but I still feel like I'm learning new things every day!

Anyways, Billy came up with this wonderful idea that we should form a goth band and photo our gig! I loved this idea, as a rock chick myself it's very true to me and my RL, lol. We had heaps of fun shooting this piece, but I'll let the photo's speak for themselves!

 

To get to know each other a lil more, which was the purpose of the challenge, we asked each other a few questions about blogging and why we blog. This is what I asked Billy (you'll have to check out Songs in the Key of SL to see what he asked me!).

1) Who/ what inspired you to start blogging?

Being on Plurk, you see a lot of people talking about blogging. I didn't think I'd have anything different to offer, until an idea came to me one day, and I decided to give it a shot!

2) How would you describe your style?

My photos always start with an image I see in a song, or with an idea from the prompts on the story challenges I do. So I don't know if I have a specific style because I dress to suit the idea in my head. Although baseball caps and blue jeans are pretty common to see me in on a regular basis.

3) How do you prepare for a new blog post?

First the idea, then I find props that get me close to what my idea was. Location is next, where I set up props and pose, finally I adjust windlights. That's the hard part.

4) What do you enjoy about blogging?

Challenging myself. I really enjoy taking photos.

5) Would you consider collaborating with others again?

Always. I've worked with several people now, and it's always interesting to see how they do things differently.

6) (just to be mean ;p) Who are some of your favourite stores?

You're right, this is a harder question than I expected. Argrace, Entente, FATEwear, Kal Rau, plus I have quite a few favourite clothing items from designers that I'd like to check out some more.
(Billy had already asked me this and I had found it too difficult to answer, so I threw it right back at him!)

 7) Do you have a favourite piece of clothing/ 'go-to' item that you wear frequently?

My hats from Argrace. Definitely.

Millies' 52 Weeks of Randomness.

Week 2:

She was on the wrong side of town, but that was just the way she liked it. Ever since they had beaten and mutilated her and left her for dead, this had become her nightly ritual. For the 6 who beat her did not know that something other than Death had found her that night, and turned her into this monster, not alive, but not dead, unable to walk in the sun, and with a thirst for blood.

This stunning dress I am wearing has been in my inv for a long time just waiting for an excuse for me to show it to you. It had sat there waiting for me to get some inspiration for a photo, and when I won this gorgeous headpiece form the lucky board at Violent Seduction yesterday, I just KNEW they would look perfect together!

52 Weeks of Random-ness...

OK, so I was inv sorting today and realised that I have a TON of cute stuff that has never graced the pages of Demented Dollie, so I figured I would set my own '52 weeks' challenge for the new year, and that is to bring you 1 random look, created solely from things already in my inventory, each week. The clothes in this look are all from Nomine, which I had totally forgotten I had and were just sitting in my inv, unboxed even :O So I decided to start my challenge with these. Nomine is an an awesome goth/ alternative store, full of pretty much everything you could ever need, from seperates, to skins, to full avatars (usually these are extremley limited though). There are even unisex and... MALE skins and clothing here! The store owner, Munchflower Zaius has been creating things in SL a long time, and was one of the first alternative stores I ventured into, however she rarely seems to get blogged, so here we are :)
